There are many industries that require bookings or reservations. Rental Cars, Hotel Rooms, Airlines, Restaurants and even Seminars, Events and Classes all generally need to be reserved.

Websites are often an excellent medium to provide this functionality to internet customers.

The editor needs to be able to easily enter the characteristics of what is to be reserved and often calendars are reqired both to allow dates or times to be easily selected by visitors and managed by the editor and also to insure that once something is reserved at a specific date or time it is no longer available at that time to other visitors.

Online booking systems are often integrated with on line payments - to guarantee that payment (perhaps just a deposit) has been received before an item is removed from availability.
